Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) revenues are set to rocket from £4.2 billion in 2016 to more than £130 billion in 2020, according to research from the International Data Corporation.

The UK is home to a number of emerging players in the industry hoping to cash in on the boom. According to a report from RetailPerceptions, 2018 is expected to be the year that VR will spread to new directions, with more businesses set to enter the industry.

The report also predicts that AR will transform the shopping experience, giving retailers every reason to provide an enhanced customer experience.
