Choosing the right programming language to learn can be tricky, as some can fall in and out of popularity rapidly.
Go, or golang, is an open source programming language created by Google software engineers Robert Griesemer, Rob Pike and Ken Thompson in 2007, who had previously created the C programming language, Unix, and UTF-8.
Go is often described as trying to find a halfway point between Python and C++ as it pulls in the ease of Python, a dynamic language, and the security features of C++, a compiled language.
