First launched in 2014, Alexa is a 'smart' personal assistant that runs 'skills', or voice activated commands on devices such as the Amazon Echo.
With the help of development platforms such as the Amazon's Alexa Skills Kit, developers are creating an increasing number of skills and improving the capabilities of the voice-enabled devices.
Alexa can do a whole range of things, from setting alarms and playing music to searching the internet and even reading your children a bedtime story. But there are also some solid business-focused skills as well.
We've created a list of skills that we think all Amazon Alexa users will want to at least try, but as always we will continue to update this list with new and exciting skills. So if we have missed one you love, let us know.
It should be noted that in the UK the amount and quality of Alexa skills is quite low compared to other countries like the US. But as the number of users grows, so will the skills.
