There will be only three security updates from Microsoft this month, the software giant has revealed.
Following on the back of no less than 19 patches in July and August, this month's Patch Tuesday will come as somewhat of a relief for sysadmins.
Only one update, for Office, is rated critical and all will be released on Tuesday as usual. The other two updates fix problems with Windows and are rated no higher than Important, meaning user action would be required before an attack based on the flaw could succeed.
No further details were released although the company may be planning to patch a recently reported flaw in its Word 2000 software. Earlier this week, Symantec warned that the flaw was being exploited by attackers to run unauthorised software on a victim's computer.
