F-Secure has launched an e-mail filtering gateway offering spam and virus protection and a single management console for network administrators.
The F-Secure Messaging Security Gateway P-Series is intended for use by universities, governments and large enterprises, the company said. Based on Linux, it uses anti-spam technology from Proofpoint Systems Inc. that analyses the structural content and attributes of messages to separate valid and suspicious ones.
F-Secure said the P-series can be deployed in cluster configurations to accommodate data centers located in different places. Administrators use a web-based interface to set e-mail policies, monitor the infrastructure and configure features for end users.
The P-series can be used in tandem with identity management systems such as Microsoft's Active Directory, IBM's Domino Directory or other LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) sources, F-Secure said.
