Security firm Bullguard is giving away 5,000 special editions of its mobile phone antivirus software, to celebrate the launch of its new mobile security software.

BullGuard Mobile Security 10 benefits from antispyware, parental controls and antitheft technology to allow users to remotely delete data, lock a device or locate it using GPS. Users will also get access to tailor-made backup tools that can help ensure contacts and other data is safely secured in another location for easy retrieval, spam filters to screen text messages and calls and a Firewall.

The 5,000 copies of BullGuard Mobile Antivirus, the antivirus software contained with the mobile security suite, are available on a first-come, first-serve basis by visiting Bullguard's dedicated webpage.

Bullguard said the software was aimed at the "technically proficient first movers, who have more or less moved all of their activities from their computer to their phone because it's convenient, but who are also aware that this constitutes a major risk".

"All the risks that are a part of your life when you go online from your computer are just as real when you use your phone to check for Facebook or Twitter updates and news, to receive e-mails and access your bank account," said Morten Rinder Stengaard, product manager at BullGuard.

"We've come a long way from the antiquated 'brick' that simply offered the ability to make calls on the move, and modern mobiles now offer access to the internet, allow you to perform financial transactions, place product orders, access emails, download games and applications and stream media all from the comfort of a handheld, as well as communicate with other users within range using wireless protocols such as Bluetooth."

BullGuard Mobile Security 10 is available for Android, Symbian, Windows and Blackberry platforms. The full version is priced at £19.95 for a one year licence.
