Mobile operator Three has extended its free roaming package to the US and three other new countries, making it a tempting service for business travellers and regular tourists.
The Three Feel At Home package, which allows customers to use their bundled UK minutes, texts and data abroad, is now available in the US, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Macau.
Dave Dyson, chief executive of Three, said: "High roaming charges stop people enjoying their phones while they're away and Feel At Home is the antidote to that. We plan to add more countries to the mix soon."
Three has also confirmed its 4G rollout plans. From 2 December, Three started upgrading customers with a 4G-ready device, so they can access the latest high-speed data technology when they are in an area with 4G coverage, at no extra charge.
Three aims to cover 50 cities with 4G by the end of 2014 and 98 percent of the population by the end of 2015.
Feel At Home was already available in the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden and Denmark.
If customers exceed the limits of their current price plan when roaming, Three says they still benefit from special roaming rates that are lower than its standard roaming rates.
