Managed services provider Redstone has updated its main UK data centres with a new network architecture with the aim of improving its service to cloud customers.

Redstone is deploying an Ethernet fabric based system from Brocade to help make its business more elastic and scalable in response to application customer demand.

Redstone has deployed Brocade VDX 6720 and 6730 data centre switches and VCS fabric technology across its primary data centres in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

The switches will provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet performance to support the applications of customers.

Fraser Fisher, managing director at Redstone, said: “Our portfolio of offerings traditionally focused around co-location services, but more recently our customers have been looking for more sophisticated cloud-based solutions as data volumes skyrocket."

He said: "With customers looking to move core applications off-premise, and leverage the operational benefits of applications such as VDI and VoIP, the importance of a network that can keep pace with demand increases exponentially."
