The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has launched two initiatives for data management that will focus on defining, implementing and qualifying methodologies for protecting and retaining data.
SNIA has introduced the Data Protection Initiative and the Information Lifecycle Management Initiative.
In the Data Protection Initiative, the group will design a model for data protection, publish a glossary and provide guidelines for data protection. It will work with corporate customers to develop ways to measure the value of data and data loss. The Information Lifecycle Management Initiative will define approaches to information lifecycle management, including how to integrate disparate products from vendors.
SNIA is a not-for-profit organisation composed of representatives from major storage vendors.
