Citrix Online is set to acquire SaaS company NetViewer in a deal expected to close in 2011. The German company offers a similar product base to that of Citrix Online and has 18,000 customers.
The acquisition of Netviewer has been designed to help Citrix Online in its global expansion and to improve its reach in Europe. The company has customers in many European countries and Citrix sees the customer bases as very complementary.
Citrix Online said that the NetViewer acquisition would all it to tap into the growing interest in remote working and collaboration in Europe.

We believe there is even more opportunity ahead as the global market matures and customers look for a strong, experienced partner," said Brett Caine, senior vice president, Online Services Division, Citrix Systems. "With the acquisition of a company that shares our vision, we will continue to execute on our strategy for global expansion and accelerated growth by delivering products that offer a simpler, better experience to enable customers to succeed."
