The unlocked UK version of the cute Palm Centro smartphone is out today. It's pretty much the same hardware as the Palm 500, ie. a bit smaller than the Treo yet still keeping the QWERTY keypad, but Centro runs PalmOS where the 500 has kludgy Windows Mobile.
(There was a PalmOS Centro available in the US, but only on CDMA which is of course quite useless almost everywhere else.)
The snag is, while the Centro looks great, it's still 2.5G-only. That's right - Palm does not yet have a 3G phone! OK, Centro does EDGE (Class 10, even) but that's about your lot.
Yes, it's true - Palm still hasn't entered the 21st Century. What a sad waste of a strong brand and heritage.
