Qik Video for Android is an app that turns your Android smartphone into a mobile video broadcast station, creating a live, web-based video stream from your handset. The service also hooks into e-mail, SMS, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other services to give you additional video-sharing options. On Sprint's EVO 4G phone, the app also offers video chat capabilities.
Unfortunately, a few quirks and bugs prevent this app from reaching its full potential. Several configuration options require you to leave the app and log in to Qik's web portal instead. Worse, the Facebook and YouTube sharing features are currently broken in the Android app, although they do work via the web portal.
If you just want to live-stream video to the web, email, or SMS, or share videos via Twitter, then Qik Video will not disappoint. Of course, you should keep in mind that Qik Video requires a good data connection, and that some cellular carriers may charge extra if you exceed your data usage quota.
