If you’re on Twitter or follow the news, you’ll notice it’s not unknown for celebrities to tweet something, get a roundly negative reaction, then claim their account has been hacked into. Some more credibly than others.

It’s a phenomenon almost as old as the social media site itself and it shows no sign of going away, much to our amusement. Here are eight of the best times when UK ‘celebs’ used the ‘oops, I’ve been hacked’ defence.
