Before being taken offline following a raft of nasty tweets (which have since been deleted or hidden behind a private feed) and sent to bed with no dinner, Microsoft’s artificial intelligence chatbot Tay announced her support for Donald Trump in the US presidential election.

The chatbot, which was designed by Microsoft to resemble a teenage tweeter, was fed language and phrases by the Twitter user base that led her on a genocidal, racist tirade, before being taken offline.

Before Microsoft intervened its AI had made its political preference public, announcing her support for Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential election.
