Why do some tech acquisitions fail so spectacularly, often in ways that are predicted from the start? Having analysed some of the most infamous examples of recent times the simplest reason is mainly price, the ticket being stacked with too many zeros. Other problems include management hubris and slavish business fashion. Somtimes it's simply that companies with very different cultures often fail to mesh and end up wondering why they bothered at all. The market changes and the mega-buy turns into a dead weight. Most extricate themselves from the mess but one or two on this list didn’t.
