The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the most fundamental refresh of data protection law to hit the UK is finally within sight of becoming law in early 2016. Although the fine details have yet to be confirmed, we isolate the ten biggest changes facing UK businesses between now and the point enforcement should begin in 2018. By then, data protection will have to be designed into the way organisations gather and manage data rather than applied in a piecemeal, retrospective way.
