Hackers have always been misguided demystifiers of celebrity, pulling back the curtain of privacy to see what's really going on. Until recently this wasn't much of a technical challlenge. As famous people took to the online world in the early 2000s, too few seemed to grasp that Internet security was poor. Passwords and user names were easy to steal and far too many sensitive files were just sitting there, waiting to be breached. Sine then, a handful of celebrities and famous people have paid a very high price so that others could grasp the scale of everyone's vulnerability. We have this to thank them for.
