Being a freelancer is often depicted as financially unstable, lacking in job security and risky. However, the benefits of freelancing could - if done well - vastly outweigh its potential drawbacks.

“Traditionally 50 percent of our business is IT related,” freelance collaboration site Upwork CEO Stephane Kasriel says.

“Machine learning is at the very top as one of the fastest growing skills. It’s not a big secret that everybody is investing in AI right now and that goes all the way from the biggest banks in the world to the tiniest of companies,” explains Kasriel.

Speaking to Techworld at Web Summit in Lisbon last week, Kasriel offers his tips on how to become a successful freelancer.
