Veeam Software has launched a free tool for VMware professionals designed to provide real-time monitoring of ESX and ESXi.
Veeam Monitor Free Edition has been devised specifically for virtualised environment and uses. an agentless approach - a VMware API - to monitor system health and performance. The company said that users could view a single-screen view of resource usage data for any virtual infrastructure object or network event, providing sysadmins with an efficient way of monitoring the state of the infrastructure.
"Customers have been asking us for an inexpensive monitoring solution that supports free ESXi, and with the current worldwide economic situation, we thought that a basic real-time monitor available at no charge would be appreciated," said Ratmir Timashev, Veeam president and CEO. "Veeam FastSCP has been enthusiastically embraced by the virtualisation community, and we hope this new free tool will be similar."
Key features of Veeam Monitor Free Edition include: the ability to find out at a glance which components of the VMware infrastructure are the largest resource consumers; the Correlation of event and performance data; the ability to set up email notifications or SNMP traps for important events and scalable architecture.
