Nexsan Technologies announced a dual-chassis configuration of its ATAbaby storage array, providing up to 2.4 terabytes of raw ATA drive capacity (1.8TB usable) in a 2U configuration. It's intended as a tape autoloader replacement for SMB Windows server customers needing more speed.

"The new ATAbaby Twin is another nail in the coffin of tape-based backup," said Diamond Lauffin, Nexsan's senior executive vice president. "No tape loader or library can deliver the same level of data protection and availability at anywhere close to this price."

The ATAbaby twin offers RAID 5 and can be attached locally, or remotely via IP or DSL lines. The device is currently available and priced at £3,500. Nexsan Technologies has its european headquarters in Derby.
