This year’s national Digital Entrepreneur Awards are now open for entries. Previous winners include Sainsbury's, Mothercare and Lucozade Powerleague, and entry is free.

For more than a decade the DEAs, say the organisers, have recognised the “unsung heroes” of the digital industry, from the entrepreneurs at the helm to the programmers innovating behind the scenes.

“So whether the market leader or leading the market, the DEAs are looking to recognise those driving the constant digital evolution in the UK,” the organisers said. Lawrence Jones MBE, CEO of main sponsor and cloud provider UKFast, said: “We’ve been the main sponsor of these awards for more than a decade now, and we have seen the extraordinary impact that the internet has, and continues to have, on business.”

He added: “Social media and a good website are no longer enough to make a business stand out from the crowd. These awards recognise those firms that are going above and beyond to ensure that they are at the forefront of the digital sphere.”

With 12 categories, split between SME and large businesses, the DEAs aim to cover all of the bases of the industry.

Entries are open now until 12 June, with winners announced at a London dinner in October. Last year’s event was attended by more than 300 business people and speakers included the Apprentice’s Neil Clough and sports star Diane Modahl.
