The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is said to be close to arresting a teenager whom it has identified as the author of one of the variants of the W32.Blaster worm.

The unnamed 18-year old, believed by the FBI and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to be the author of the Blaster-B variant, is expected to be arrested in Seattle later today, according to the online edition of The Wall Street Journal. Officals at the FBI and DOJ could not be reached for comment.

A news conference by the Seattle offices of the DOJ and FBI is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time Friday.
