Red Hat has announced new training and consulting services, including a new two-day course that shows you how to install, configure and manage virtual hosts on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL). The new services include a virtualisation assessment.

Describing it as the first Linux virtualisation course of its kind, RH claimed the RH184 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtualisation course will prepare trainees to deploy Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtualisation technology successfully.

It's aimed at Red Hat certified professionals or experienced Linux system administrators who are planning a move to Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform, and will be available to system administrators with a base Unix or Linux knowledge.

Taught on live production systems, prerequisites for the course include a Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) certification or equivalent knowledge. After completion of the course, attendees will be able to deploy all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform 5 products, said the company.

The Linux Virtualisation course is available in North America now and will soon be at Red Hat locations globally. There's more about the course here.

According to Red Hat, there are about 27,500 Red Hat Certified Engineers (RHCE), about 18,500 Red Hat Certified Technicians (RHCT) and about 46,000 Red Hat certified professionals around the world.

Red Hat is also announcing Virtualisation Assessment, a fixed price engagement that analyses your IT infrastructure over a period of four to five days. According to Red Hat, it also delivers recommendations on how virtualisation can increase quality of service and decrease total cost of ownership.

The assessment analyses factors like server utilisation, server consolidation, application failover, application isolation, memory, network, storage, security and more. It provides a roadmap detailing implementation costs and explores how the different aspects of virtualisation can reduce your total cost of ownership, said the company.
