Veeam has launched new software that will enable enterprises using Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) with automated problem resolution for their VMware environments. Veeam had already released nworks to manage VMware's vSphere and with the new ProPAck, the company has now expanded this to manage vSphere though Microsoft's own management tool.
The ProPack will be included with version 5.5 of Veeam's nworks offering at no extra charge, said Doug Hazelman, Veeam's director of global engineering. "All that information that we capture will be managed by SCVMM. Microsoft already solution that they've written themselves for Hyper-V, we've now done something for VMware.
"This is a big market," Hazelman," most of the Fortune 500 companies are running VMware and most of them have licences for SCVMM. This is going to help penetrate that market even further."
Cameron Fuller, principal consultant for Catapult Systems, said customers are looking for flexibility and easy ways to integrate their heterogeneous environments by leveraging the tools they already have in-house. "The nworks PRO Pack, in conjunction with Virtual Machine Manager, automates corrective action on VMware systems" he said. "The intelligence of VMM PRO Tips in the new nworks PRO Pack, combined with the VMware know-how that is already built into the nworks Management Pack, means there is no new tool for operators to learn and no action required
