Iomega has launched an expanded line of external storage products aimed at Mac users.
The company has introduced new portable, RAID and multi-interface drives. The 1.5TB UltraMax Pro Desktop Hard Drive features USB 2, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 interfaces, and inside are two SATA II hard disk drive mechanisms that can be configured either as a RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration, or as a JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) using a manual switch. The enclosure is designed to complement Apple's pro line.
Iomega's UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive features 500GB or 750GB, respectively. It includes external Serial ATA (eSATA), FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports. It also includes cables for all four interfaces, and like the UltraMax Pro, features a design that complements Apple's pro line.
The company is also offering a new 750GB MiniMax Desktop Hard Drive, which features three USB 2.0 and three FireWire ports. It's stackable with the Mac mini. Iomega's MiniMax USB 2.0 + Hub has three USB 2.0 ports in its hub along with 500GB of storage - Iomega says that model is also suitable for the AirPort Extreme Base Station.
Iomega is also offering a new dual-interface version of its 160GB eGo Portable Hard Drive, with FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces.
All of the drives include EMC Retrospect Express software to enable users to back up using the drives. It verifies backup integrity and enables you to schedule backups without having to log in, and recover individual files or complete systems to any point.
