Isilon showed that lightning can strike twice by winning the Techworld NAS/SAN award for the second year running.
The company was among the winners of the Techworld product awards, announced at a gala dinner held at The O2 last night. There were a couple of companies who had also won previous awards: Intel and D-Link had both been winners in the past, while Expand Networks, shortlisted in both previous years, proved that persistance pays off by winning the Acceleration Product of the Year at the third time of asking.
Besides these, other winners on the night included such big names as PGP and Check Point, while smaller companies such as GoHello, Shoretel, Core Security and Uplogix. The full list of winners can be found on the Techworld Awards website.
Maxwell Cooter, editor of Techworld and chairman of the judges' panel said that the judges' task had been made particularly difficult this year as there had been a particularly impressive bunch of entries. "What really stood out for us was that companies had moved away from over-engineered products that they had to invent reasons for customers to buy, to well-thought-out, well-implemented products that met customers' real needs. There were some very unlucky finalists who had just failed to miss out on one of the prizes but that's what happens when the quality of entrants is so higher."
