CA Technologies is set to purchase WatchMouse, a maker of SaaS-based tools for monitoring mobile and on-demand applications.
The WatchMouse technology is sold via subscription and will be rolled into CA's portfolio of application monitoring tools. It will serve as a lower-cost, subscription-based alternative for customers who want to track application performance but don't need an extensive suite of capabilities, CA said.
WatchMouse's software is backed by a network of roughly 60 monitoring stations in 40 countries, providing real-time information about application behavior, according to a statement.
The company's customers include ING, Citibank, AT&T, Siemens and Orange.
CA Technologies competes in the application monitoring market with the likes of BMC, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Compuware. Earlier this month, Compuware increased its investment in the market, announcing the purchase of DynaTrace for US$256 million.
