Microsoft has released a service pack for its Navision business software.
Version 4.0 now comes with a Web-based portal for employees that allows them to handle company information on a secure intranet - an integration of Navision, Windows SharePoint and SharePoint Portal Server. The portal will give users access to a streamlined framework to access data within Navision while reducing training time and costs, Microsoft said.
Other additions are costing inventory enhancements and planning resiliency. Navision is based on Microsoft's BizTalk Server and integrates with Microsoft Office, its SQL Server and Small Business Server.
The software giant said it has more than 48,000 customers who use Navision 4.0 which allows for financial, manufacturing, customer management, supply chain, analytics and e-commerce data functions.
Last month the company renamed Microsoft Business Solutions - its branch dealing financial, customer relationship and supply chain software - to Microsoft Dynamics while aiming to converge its various products.
