Double Take has expanded its support for Microsoft products, claiming to have introduced new failover options for Microsoft System Center.
At TechEd in New Orleans, the company launched its new ProTip for those Hyper-V virtual machines already being protected by Double-Take Availability Virtual Host Edition. This will enable the user to initiate failover of that virtual machine with a simple click, using the Virtual Machine Manager console.
In addition, Double Take has extended its management support for System Center Operations Manager by integrating the Double-Take Availability management console with Operations Manager. This allows users to get management information about the system from a single console. According to Double Take, this will help users to understand what caused particular events and offer suggestions as to what to do next.
Ian Masters, Double Take sales director said that the company was looking to provide failover for mixed physical and virtual environments. "But we're also cross platform and will work across Microsoft and VMware."
He said that the price of the new software was £2,338 for one server, although as he pointed out, for failover, a company need to buy two licences for at least two servers. He said that there was a many-to-one failover option available too.
