The Top Gun franchise is a throwback from decades ago - a time when arcade games where all the rage as were action packed Hollywood films. Top Gun 2 the igame, has little to do with the 80s film of the same name, besides the fact that it includes aeroplanes.
In the game you can choose between flying the F-18 Hornet, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F-14 Tomcat, complete with unique weapons systems and special offensive and defensive techniques. You can work your way through seven different flyzones as you fend off attacks from AI enemies.
Top Gun 2's real highlight is the graphics - truly stunning. An array of impressive visual effects are used to create a fully immersive experience that keeps you on the edge of your seat. These are some genuinely impressive visual that demand your attention.
While there is no denying that this is a fun filled and action packed game, the control system really lets it down. The decision to reverse the controls with no option to invert them is strange, and something that may well make the game unplayable for many people.
An impressive and visually beautiful game that is marred by an ugly control system
