Microsoft's powerful development environment has finally been updated for 2010, and just as you'd expect, it's packed with new productivity-boosting features.
This starts with a new editor based on the Windows Presentation Foundation, which makes it easy to zoom in on your code and highlight method references. You can now search everything in your solution from one place (no more "Quick Find" for this, "Find in File" for that). And if you use multiple monitors, then you're now able to float windows from one monitor to another.
A wide range of language enhancements range from the simple (Visual Basic's implicit line continuations that split statements across multiple lines) to the profound: new parallel computing libraries let you take full advantage of multiple processors without needing to work with threads or the thread pool. Or if you want to expand your horizons, then you can always try F#, a brand new .NET language suited for even the most technical tasks.
Then there are new code snippets for HTML, JScript and ASP.NET for faster authoring; easier web deployment that sees the ability to package and publish your web applications in one click; Windows 7 features that mean your apps can take advantage of multi-touch, jump lists and Aero thumbnails in the taskbar, and a whole lot more.
