Ah, the power of the myth of electricity generation and utility computing. According to Sun and others IT should be much, much more of a utility and Sun's container-based data centre - project Blackbox - is just that. Sun has posted a video on YouTube in which Dave Douglas, a Sun VP, talks about it and takes you on a tour inside it.

This is *not* your average corporate video. It's a straight-to-camera piece by a talking head who knows his subject and talks well about it. Have a look at it. It's Sun doing its marketing in a Web 2.0 way. Is this a trend that will be followed? It probably will. Production costs have got to be low and distribution costs virtually nill.

There is Jonathan Schwartz suggesting blogs could be used for formal corporate PR stuff and now this. Sun is doing some really imaginative corporate communications. It sure brightened my day.
