You know how people are reluctant to adopt new versions of Windows when they're first released, as they're cautious that there may be problems? The approach is usually: "Hey, we'll wait for the first service release - that should have all the biggies fixed".

Well, Microsoft has cracked it.

I ran up the spanking new Windows Server 2008 yesterday ... and in the System control panel it says:

Windows Server
Service Pack 1

Such a neat bit of lateral thinking: if the customers won't buy it until SP1 is released, give 'em SP1 with the first release. Obvious when you think about it ...
